Sophia Johnson delivers the goods again! The "Raptor Castle" series is a tapestry that weaves itself through time and space, slowly but richly developing a saga of rugged realities, wounded spirits, delicate hearts, silent hopes and ultimate redemption. Each character is given her full attention and is carefully nurtured and developed throughout the series and it is a pleasure to meet them again and again. Her plot lines are skillfully woven, giving small hints here and there, but never giving themselves away completely, allowing the reader to discover and savor the tension as the stories unfold. All of this is set within lush descriptive period settings and beautifully researched historical detail.In addition, her "romantic" scenes are fabulous. Few authors can handle sex scenes with her ability to balance romance, sexual tension, sensuality, emotion and eroticism, blending each element into the other to create something the reader can believe in.
I would highly recommend reading this series from the beginning, because each book enriches the next and draws the reader into the continuing saga. And if you have not read Sophia Johnson's earlier books, do it now and get ready for a treat.

enjoyed the whole series of her books. The Raptor Castle series was enjoyable I read Forbidden.I read Seducessed as well
I read the first two in no time Forbidden and Seduced and had to wait for this to be released. Ruthless was well worth the wait. I loved the H and h. Mariele was a likable character in the earlier books, so I couldnt wait to read her story. The sexual tension and the fighting between her and Magnus was great, you felt like you were right there with them. I Cant say enough if you havent read you are missing out on a very good series. On pins and needles now waiting on last book to be release Surrender which is Magnus brother and Elynn(the sister from Forbidden)
THIS SERIS HAS EVERY THING YOU LOOK FOR IN HISTORIC ROMANCE. IT TAKES YOU TO THOSE FAR AWAY PLACES SOME FOLKS ONLY DREAM OF. LOVE THIS SERIES.
Good book
Not as good for me as others in this series. Muriele who is introduced in the first book, finally has her story told. Magnus is the highlander after Murielle. He believes her guilty of crime ( I won't say what crime) against his foster clan. A blood oath (sworn when he was young)compells him to track her down and return her to be punished. Although he secretly loves her he must deliver her to her fate. A fate she wouldn't be facing if he hadn't abandoned her in the first place. This is still worth reading. I just didn't like Magnus or feel he deserved Murielle. Still a interesting read.
I enjoy series books so while awaiting new releases from others I came across Miss Johnson. Her character development is excellent. She maintains prior character relationships and creates a fabulous world for her characters. They are more than just tiny novellas and I looks forward to more from her.
I was so looking forward to reading Muriele's story. This story would've been alright if only the Hero wasn't so insensitive and actually loved Muriele. Magnus only decided Muriele was worth marrying when he found out she came with a castle and land. I actually thought he was good enough when he didn't bed her as soon as she came under his control. But he did bed her eventually and remained thinking of her in terms of being his leman for the moment. He even told his friend that he planned on sending for her after he wedded his betrothed. His friend was shocked and Magnus still didn't get that he was being a ****head. I don't think he even told her he loved her...or maybe I missed it. Magnus wasn't Ruthless he was Clueless.
The other thing that didn't sit well with me was that Muriele was manipulated by everyone including her Mother's "closest friend". Muriele was such a good strong character that I didn't like it that in the end her choice of getting married was even taken from her. If I was in her shoes I'd be furious with my husband (for marrying me because I was now an heiress thus worthy of his attention) and the Mother's "closest friend" (who not only controlled my mind but gave the proof needed for the wedding to be legal). But no, the morning after she was just furious that he had taken away her weapons.
I do enjoy Sophia Johnson's writing style and I kept on reading because I was hoping that the Hero would redeem himself as being worthy of Muriele's love. I found Magnus' brother Graemme and his friend better examples of possible Heroes and am looking forward to reading Graemme's and Elyne's story. I hope Graemme is as wonderful a hero as Ranald (Forbidden) is.
